Katherine E. Rankin, age 98, of Hartville died Tuesday January 6, 2009. She was born December 30, 1910 in St. Marys, PA. A graduate of McKinley High, Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and The University of Akron, she was head nurse and supervisor at the former Little Flower Pediatric Hospital in Canton and she served as an instructor and the Director of Education at Mercy School of Nursing. At the time she retired, she was the Director of the School of Nursing. She is survived by her sister Sarah Davis of Seattle, WA; daughters Patricia Marmaduke of Akron and Melissa Lembke of Hartville; grandchildren Elizabeth (Dan) Klein, David (Angela) Marmaduke, Jill Lembke, and Michael (Amy) Rankin; great-grandchildren Abigail, Amelia, Anthony and Alexander Klein, James and Christine Marmaduke, and Robin Nicholson. Preceded in death by husband Atlee M. in 1999. Calling hours are Thursday 7-9 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home Hartville and one- half hour (10-10:30 AM Friday) in the church prior to the Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Friday in Little Flower Catholic Church will be celebrated by Katherine's nephew, Fr. Eric Vogt, O.S.B. of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Marys, PA. Final resting place is North Canton Cemetery.
