Karl L. Conrad, 87, of North Canton, OH, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife,Irene; daughters, Karen Conrad and Kathryn (David) Serri; son, Kevin Conrad (Kristie); grandchildren: Kyle, Kellie, and Kristian Conrad; Amanda, Emily and Alyssa Serri. Karl was born in Smithville, OH, to the late Walter W. and Anna (Blough) Conrad He graduated from Smithville High School in 1940 and went to Manchester College, Manchester, IN. He received his Master's Degree and finished academic work toward his Doctorate at Iowa State University. He served honorably in World War II and took part in the ASTP (Army Specialized Training Program). He was a Project Engineer at the former Goodyear Aerospace Corporation, retiring in 1987. After retirement, he volunteered his time to teach math, both in the classroom and as a tutor. He was a part of Christian Ministries Church, serving as an elder, school administrator and teacher. Karl's greatest achievements, however, were the countless acts of kindness and charity that he offered to all who touched his life in their times of need. These acts of compassion and leadership will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by sisters: Iva (Clarence) Arnold, Ethel (Frank) Bowers, Gladys (Jake) Gerig, Betty (Lawrence) Grosjean and brothers: Raymond (Berneatha) and Howard (Lola) Conrad. A memorial service will be 2:00 PM Friday at Christian Ministries 1305 State Street N.W. A private interment will be in Western Reserve National Cemetery Rittman, OH.
