Judy Kern Hunter, age 76, died September 8 after a six-month illness from complications of bacterial meningitis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma (Myers) and Jess Kern. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, a great love story, Dr. C. David Hunter; her daughter, Jessica Vargo (Matt) of Copley; son, David L. (Laureen) Hunter of Massillon; grandchildren, Erin and Sara Vargo, Ryder and Lucy Hunter; and sister, Susan Kinkead of Atlanta GA. A graduate of McKinley High School, she attended business college and then worked briefly in data processing at The Ohio State University tabulating milk production of all dairy cows in Franklin County. Then, after working briefly in Canton she became a full time mother. Later she worked many years at the 25th Street Stark County District Library, work she enjoyed with the fine staff. She was formerly a member of Church of the Savior United Methodist Church. Judy enjoyed shopping, particularly for jewelry we joked, and going out for supper. She took particular pride in her family, and they especially enjoyed her unconditional and unwavering love. As she stands before her God, she will be seen as a woman of great honesty and good. Arrangements are being made by the Spiker-Foster Shriver Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. A private family service is planned, and Judy's final resting place will be close to other family members at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family thanks the Aultman Hospital ICU, the Massillon Laurels Nursing Home and the Crossroads Hospice for their kind and appreciated service while Judy endured this extended illness.
