IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith M.
Barkman
December 3, 1940 – September 1, 2025
Judith was born on December 3, 1940, to Ruth (Hasler) and Grant Ditch, the oldest of their 6 children, she graduated from Jackson High School class of 1958. She held various jobs over the years including Avon, K-Mart, RW Screw, driving school bus for Jackson schools, and InfoCision where she retired in 1999.
Judy loved her family; her favorite and best role was being a mom and a grandma. She was left to raise her 4 children on her own. Judy worked 3 jobs to provide for her children, get them through school, help each of them to become independent and raise their families. She was such a beautiful soul with a huge heart, she also loved to help and serve others, she never knew a stranger, she frequently provided food, clothing, transportation, financial help when she could, and a friendship to all. She was a kind, caring, compassionate, giving woman.
Judy loved to drive! She loved her Chevy Conversion van and her dog Buddy, and she took many road trips. She never had a GPS or cell phone for travel, she simply explored all roads and trusted that she would find her way, and she always did!
She loved to read lots of books, especially anything related to health and medical. Her favorite read was her Bible. She loved to learn about, teach, share, worship, sing in the choir, praising and serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, she attended various churches in the community over the years.
Her biggest passion was singing, she spent years as part of the Larry Wilgus Choir performing in their annual Christmas Spectacular at Canton Palace Theater. Some of her favorite hymns and Christian songs included Amazing Grace, the Old Rugged Cross, How Great Thou Art, Open the Eyes of My Heart, Jesus Loves Me, Happy Birthday Jesus, what A Wonderful World, Fly Me To The Moon, My Way. She loved all music including Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Dean Martin, Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, Neil Diamond, The BeeGees, Sonny & Cher, Neil Young, and loved to dance and sing to all music.
Over the last 24 years, dementia began to impact Judy's life, the last 11 years the dementia stole her ability to live independently, and her lifetime of memories. While she no longer knew her family, she was happy, healthy and well cared for enjoying residency at Brewster Parke since 2014 where she listened to music and sang, she enjoyed the activities, friendships, salon and nurturing care.
Judy's family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff and family at Brewster Parke for their love and compassionate care these past several years. Also, thank you to the staff of Crossroads Hospice for their compassion.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; father Grant, mother Ruth, brother Gary, brother Grant aka Sonny, and sister Marilyn.
