Joyce E. Carrothers, of Strongsville passed away surrounded by family, May 5th, 2024. She was born to the late Stephen and Myrtle (Boron) Kirkwood in Canton. She graduated from Mckinley High School in 1954. She married Harry E. Hayes in 1954 and was so for over 40 years. Later she married Thomas Carrothers. Joyce spent most of her life caring for others and running a group home for the developmentally disabled. She in fact worked up until she was 79 years old caring for others. The ones that she loved taking care of most were her grandchildren, especially when they were young.

Joyce is preceded by her parents, husband; Harry and brothers; Merritt and William Kirkwood.

Joyce is survived by her daughters; Brenda (John) Rohr, Regina (Robert) Mathews, grandchildren; Danielle, Marissa, Austin, Drew, Jessica, Kaitlin, Dan, and 7 great grandchildren.

Services for Joyce will be held Thursday, May 9, at 7:00pm at Arnold & Spiker-Foster-Shirver Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Avenue, Canton, OH 44709. Friends may call from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
