Josephine Woodward Gonzalez Mokodean, age 76, passed away unexpectedly in her home Monday evening of an apparent heart attack. Josephine Woodward Gonzalez Mokodean was born in 1930 to Inez Knight Woodward and Stewart Minor Woodward, Jr., in Richmond, VA. She moved to the Canton area in 1951 with her first husband, Dr. Frank Aleman Gonzalez, to whom she was married for 43 years, until his death in1993. Her sisters, Inez Knight Woodward Stone of Arlington, VA and Anne Lee Woodward Mordecai of Graham, NC also preceded her in death. She will be remembered for her Southern Charm and grace, her involvement in community activities, and her ability to touch others with her humor and quick wit. She was very active at Brookside Country Club for many years. She is survived by four children and five grandchildren: Frank Woodward Gonzalez and his wife Deborah and grandchildren Gregory and Casey Gonzalez; Hank Woodward Gonzalez and his wife Colleen O'Hara; Douglas Woodward Gonzalez and his wife Cathy and grandchildren Jennifer, Kayleigh, and Holly Gonzalez; all of Canton, Julie Woodward Gonzalez and her partner Denise Taylor of Akron, OH; a brother John Pitt Lee Woodward, wife Beverly and their children Laura and Matthew of Concord, MA. She married Michael John Mokodean in 1994 and has two stepchildren and five step-grandchildren: Michael Dan Mokodean and his wife Carol and grandchildren Molly and Marisa Mokodean all of Canton, Christine Golden and grandchildren Ryan, Andy and Matthew Golden of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She is also survived by beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Friday 6:00 P.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 710 Tuscarawas St., W. Friends may call on Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. A private interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
