Maxwell, Joseph E., age 92 of Canton died Wednesday in Aultman Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Mingo Junction, Ohio to the late David G. and Ina R. (Kline) Maxwell. Joseph was most known for being an amateur pianist; he was retired from National Steel Company in Weirton, West Virginia where he worked as an electronic Engineer for 33 years. He was a Morris Code operator at the Pentagon during WWII, a Boy Scout leader and church organist for many years. Preceded in death by his wife Pauline E. (Eft) Maxwell in 2001, 2 brothers, David and Howard Maxwell, 2 sisters, Caroline Fuller and Alice Christie. Survivors include 2 daughters Mrs. William M. (Donna May) Tivener of Mansfield, Ohio and Mrs. Larry (Carol Ann) Hefling of Murray Nebraska, 2 sons, William Joseph Maxwell of Lakeland, Florida and J. Kevin Maxwell of North Canton, Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be Monday, 5:00 P.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. with Pastor Phil DiSabatino officiating. Friends may call Monday from 3-5 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
