Joseph William Fox, age 89, of Hartville went home to be with the Lord on Monday January 16, 2017. He was born September 10, 1927 in Hartville, Ohio to the late Claude W. and Ethel (Nidy) Fox. He was a 1945 graduate of Hartville High School and was a WW II Navy Veteran. He married Virginia Lower on November 3, 1946. He held jobs at Monarch, Wingfoot Lake, Lawsons, Fox Foods (a family business in the square of Hartville). He then retired from Kent State University. He was a long time member of Werner United Methodist where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed farming on his farm, Rock View Farm, and researching history, especially Hartville's history. A hobby was going to stamp shows and being a member of McKinley Stamp Club.
Preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Virginia; brother Larry Fox. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and David Cochran, Bonnie and Karl Kiener, Shirley and Tom Nehlen; grandchildren Jennifer Arndt, Megan (Fred) Saylor, Matthew (Katie) Cochran; great-grandchildren Barbara, Alexandrea, and Gabriella Arndt, Logan Saylor, Rocco Cochran; brother Richard (Millie) Fox; and brother-in-law Dale (Darlene) Lower.
Calling hours are Thursday 5-8 PM at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville and one hour prior to services Friday in the church (10:30-11:30 AM). Funeral services are Friday 11:30 AM at Werner United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Lawrence officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to the church.
