Joseph Lewis Allen, 82, of Hartville passed away July 11, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Joe was born on March 9, 1943, in Ravenna, a son of the late Norma and Joseph Allen Sr.

Joe was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He and his wife, Donna, have shared 58 wonderful years together since June 17, 1967. Joe worked in ministry as an ordained Lutheran minister of the ELCA. He started his ministry in Niagara Falls, NY and Pittsburgh, PA before moving to northwest Ohio. He celebrated 40 years in ministry before he retired. After he retired, he and Donna moved to Hartville, Ohio to be closer to their grandchildren. He continued to fill in for pastoral work when needed and lead bible study. Music was always a big part of his life. He played baritone and sang with the church choir in his youth, as a minister and after retirement. He enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School and working with the quilt group. Joe enjoyed meeting with friends and attended several group outings for breakfasts and lunches. Joe was an avid fan of all sports including Ohio State, Cleveland Guardians, and Pittsburgh Steelers. During the summer months, he enjoyed being outside, in his garden, and golfing. He loved bringing people together. He loved his family. He loved God.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Donna (Troesch) Allen; children, Matt (Melissa) Allen and Mary Jo (Ron) Smith; sister, Linda (Scott) Fosnight; grandchildren, Rebecca (Adam) Daugherty, Breila Allen, Lucas Allen, and Andrew Roehrs.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Michele Allen.

Calling hours are Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 10:30 to 11:30am at Advent Lutheran Church, 1516 Edison St NW, Uniontown, OH 44685. The service to follow immediately at 11:30am in the church with Reverend Bob Cheyney officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery.
