Obituary

Jonathan "Jay" Beachy, age 82, of North Canton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 20, 2013 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 5, 1930 in Hartville, Ohio to the late Noah E. and Lydian (Miller) Beachy. He was a self employed master carpenter. Prior to retirement he worked at the lumber dept. at Hartville Hardware, where he continued to share his knowledge of woodworking. He was a long time member of Hartville Mennonite Church where he has served as Sunday School Superintendent, an Elder and he shared his love of music in a men's quartet. He was known as a man of integrity who sought to serve God in all things. He loved time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they in turn were blessed by his prayers on their behalf. He will be remembered for his kind gentle spirit and his warm smile. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Martha Shrock Beachy on April 10, 2011. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law Gayle and Don Yoder of Uniontown and Sandra Beachy of North Canton; three grandchildren Laura Yoder, Donald (Heather) Yoder and Jonathan (Meagan) Yoder; six great-grandchildren Sophia Yoder, Wyatt, Eva, Caleb and Elijah Yoder, and Jonah Jay Yoder; siblings Amanda Otto, Nancy (Willis) Troyer, Dan (Ginny) Beachy, Joe (Carol) Beachy, Al (Martha) Beachy, Mary (David) Wileman, Marti (Eli) Miller; in-laws Erma, Reba, Martha and Dorothy Beachy, Sarah Miller, Edna Wittmer, Melvin (Mary Ellen) Shrock, Noah (Dorothy) Shrock, Henry (Dorothy) Shrock, Ervin Helmuth; and many other relatives and friends. Also he was preceded in death by brothers Nelson, Vernon, Albert, Raymond, Eli and John Beachy. Calling Hours are Saturday 4-7 PM at Hartville Mennonite Church and an hour prior to services Sunday 2-3 PM. Funeral services are Sunday 3 PM in the church with Pastor Ross Miller and Pastor Henry Shrock officiating. Final resting place is the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hartville Mennonite Church.
