Jon Sommers, age 62, of Hartville, went home to be with Jesus after a brief illness at Aultman Hospital on Friday January 14, 2022. He is now reunited with his mom, dad and brothers Steve and Paul. Born in Canton, Ohio on July 31, 1959 to the late Ervin and Ada (Yoder) Sommers, he faced many challenges during his lifetime but faced them all like a real trooper.

He gave us all a run for our money- often taking off when we were out shopping or at the local festivals. When he was 6 years old he went to live at Faith Mission Home in Virginia that specialized in children with special needs. He returned home 2 years later.

With much determination on Mom's part, he was finally able to attend school with the Stark County Board of DD. There he went on to graduate and then attend Cohen- Joliet Workshop. At age 23, he was able to get a job at the Local Burger King thru the WSC Work Program. They continued to work with him making sure he had what he needed. He worked at the Hartville Burger King where he was known as JonJon until last May 2021 when they closed. Fortunately, Jon was able to go to the Burger King in Lakemore along with his manager Chrissy and his work buddy Chris Machamer where he continued to work up until his illness.

He leaves behind to cherish their memories of him his sisters Ann Sommers of the home, Nancee (Art) Moss of Hartville, Miriam (Ken) Werich of Goshen, Indiana; sister-in-law Debbie (Tom) Reynolds; 7 nieces and nephews; 12 grand nieces and nephews; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins; and his co-workers at Burger King especially Chrissy and "Mach".

Calling hours are Sunday July 31st from 2-3 PM and A celebration of Life will begin at 3 PM all at Evermore Community Church in Hartville. The family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses and doctors who did everything possible for Jon during his stay at Aultman Hospital. They are true heroes.
