John J. (Janos) Szatmari, age 62, passed away suddenly on Tuesday August 12, 2014. He was born in Pornoapati, Hungary to the late Janos and Terezia (Szmolek) Szatmari and immigrated to the US in 1956 when he was 4 years old. He was raised in Chicago. In his teen years, he lived in Boys Town, Indiana which he cited as a wonderful place and life changing. John had an encyclopedic memory which allowed him to excel nationally in trivia and word games. He was loved unconditionally by his niece Johanna Szatmari- Goodman and sister Margit (Harlan) Sussman.
