John R. Skipper, age 79, of Hartville and Ocala, Florida passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2025, in Florida. He was born in Akron on November 15, 1945, to the late Charles and Kathleen (Moore) Skipper and graduated from Hower High School in Akron and then enlisted in the US Navy. Following his service he briefly attended the University of Akron and then began a career with BF Goodrich spanning over 30 years. "Skipper" was known for his outgoing personality and was involved in several organizations and attended all his grandkids activities throughout the years. He was proud of his involvement with Camp Quality Ohio, his volunteering with the Shriners, especially as "Skippy the Clown" visiting children's hospitals. He was active with the American Legion Post 0566 as well as the VFW. Skipper loved to fish, and he loved to travel the world, especially going on cruises.

Skipper is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Sue Skipper; his son Michael Skipper; his parents; and son in law Shane Nalepa.  He is survived by his daughters Dawn Fitzgerald and Karla Nalepa; grandchildren Olivia (Selvin) Florian, Nicholas Fitzgerald, Gavin and Beau Nalepa; great grandchildren Sophia, Geovani, Emilio; siblings William Skipper, Cynthia Moore, David Johnson, and Frances Johnson.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, July15, 2025 from 4-6 PM at Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday July 16, 2025, at 10 AM with Pastor Rusty Richards officiating. Final resting place is Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

Skipper has requested that guests please wear patriotic attire and or colors to honor the country he served and loved.
