John Schrade, Jr., 90, of Deland, FL passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021.  John was born in Canton, Ohio to John and Margaret Schrade where John lived all of his life until 2017 when he and his wife, Clara, moved to Deland, FL. where they became members of City Sanctuary Church in Deland, FL.

John was a civil engineer for the Ohio Power Company since graduating from high school in 1948 making his job his lifetime career.  John served as the Treasurer of his church, Canton Temple (now Woodlawn Church) in Canton, Ohio for decades. John also led the Men's Hall of Fame Resurrection Breakfast in Canton, OH for 29 years.

John married Clara Mae Hayes on July 15, 1951.  John is survived by his wife, Clara, his sons, Gary and Mark (Delta) Schrade of Deland, FL,  his daughter Karen (Jerry) Ellard of Birmingham, AL, his grandchildren: Daniel (Holly) Ellard, Julie (Travis) Shirley, Gabriel and Josiah Schrade and great grandchildren Judah and James Shirley, his nephews; David (Joann), Steve (Bobbie) and Jim Coyle of South Bend, IN,  David (Barb) and Scott Schrade, and sister in law, Jean Schrade.  John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Schrade, his sister, Ruth (Russ) Schrade Coyle, and his brother Herb Schrade.

Service times are as follows:

City Sanctuary Church, 401 E. Taylor Ave., Deland, FL, Thursday, May 20th - viewing from 12:00-1:00 / Service: 1:00 pm and then,  Saturday, May 22nd at Woodlawn Church, 2800 Woodlawn Ave. N.W. Canton, OH: viewing 10-11 a.m. / service: 11:00 a.m. with burial following. Son and Pastor Mark Schrade will officiate and Pastor Matt Coutcher of Woodlawn Church will be ministering as well.

John was dearly loved by his family,  considered by many friends as a 'prince of a man' and a gracious and kind person. He picked up people for church every Sunday all of his life!  His family will miss him greatly.  He was a faithful man to the end and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family and God's people.
