John T. Phillip, of Ashland, Ohio, formerly of Canton, Ohio, died Saturday, January 4, 2025, at age 89.  John was born in Canton, Ohio on January 6, 1935, to Theodora "Teddy" Phillip and Dimitru Phillip who both proceeded him in death.  John was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School and was an avid baseball player.  He attended Kent State for two years.  John served in the US Army Reserves.  John worked in production, warehousing, and sales during his career.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Phillip; four children, Michael (Barbara) Phillip, Daniel (Kimberly) Phillip, Patrick (Penny) Phillip, and Kristina Phillip; six grandchildren, Bailey (Kirby) Mathias, Sarah (Jordan) Anthony, Rachel (Jared) Province, Brett (Moriah) Phillip, Matthew Phillip, and Alyssa Phillip; nine great-grandchildren, Gia, Ronan, Kellan, Liza, Duke, Jake, Will, Emma, Dylan.

Visitation will be 10:00 am Thursday, January 9, 2025, at St. George Romanian Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, 1123 44th St. NE, Canton. A divine liturgy will be celebrated immediately following viewing.  A funeral service will follow immediately with Very Rev. Ovidiu Marginean and Very Rev. Iuliu Muntean as celebrants. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
