John Edward Parylak, of Green, Ohio, passed peacefully on August 23, 2024 at the age of 87. John was born on September 14, 1936 to John Ignac and Anna Helen (Tomkiewcz) Parylak in New Britain, Connecticut. John grew up in Southington, Connecticut with his sisters, Anne and Dorothy, and brother, Paul. On January 8, 1956, John married the love of his life, Marilyn and they traveled extensively around the country and internationally while John served 20+ years with the U.S. Navy and U.S Air Force. John retired in San Antonio, Texas in 1977 from the U.S. Air Force, and he went on to a career with the Civil Service at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas before fully retiring in 1999. In 2011, John and Marilyn moved to Ohio to be close to family. John thoroughly loved retirement and treasured his relationships and time with family, friends, neighbors in San Antonio, and his kitty, Bella. He loved to entertain and grill outside and took pride in being "Georgi" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, daughter Elizabeth, his parents, and brother, Paul, John leaves behind his two daughters, Deborah (Mike) Simpson of San Tan Valley, Arizona, and Rebecca (Darrell) Ruthrauff of Uniontown, Ohio, grandchildren Christopher Blacketer, Jonathan (Jessica) Brown and their son Jonathan of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio, Matthew Simpson of Phenix City, Alabama, Seth (Rachel) Ruthrauff and their children Whitney and Leo of North Canton, Ohio, Andrew (Misty) Ruthrauff and daughter Andi Rae of Navarre Beach, Florida, Courtney (Dave) Kast and their children Camille and Graham of Columbus, Ohio, and Trevor (Rebekah) Ruthrauff and daughter Robyn of Bowie, Maryland.
To honor John's memory, a funeral service with military honors will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio on September 20th at 9:15 AM. John and Marilyn's ashes will be buried side by side, and John will be forever with his "Swee-wee". In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in John's memory.
