John McGuckin, age 73, of Hartville went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2024. He was born in Akron on September 3, 1951, to Eugene and Isabelle (Maitland) McGuckin and graduated from Akron North High School and the University of Akron. John spent his career as a commercial truck driver, working for various dairy companies in the region and ending his career with J.W. Didado - whom he loved working for. He also was privileged to share his passion for the Lord with several congregations over the years, most recently as the Pastor of Congregational Care at Beech Mennonite Church. He was also an active member at Evermore Community Church for 44 years. John was known as a friend to all and enjoyed his regular breakfast gatherings with his friends and brothers. Family was one of the most important parts of his life, and he loved being a father to his 2 daughters, but being a "Papa" to his 8 grandchildren was his most favorite title of all.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Maureen Snider.

John is survived by his wife Karen (Knight) McGuckin; daughters Jennifer (Don) Gordon and Rachel (Nathan) Ehret; grandchildren Wyatt, Eli, Grace, Felicity, Lincoln, Ambrose, Augustine, and Mary; siblings Kathy West, James (Ellie) McGuckin, Eileen (Fred) Schmitt, and Kevin (Monique) McGuckin.

Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 at Evermore Community Church on Smith Kramer St NE in Hartville. Memorial services will be Wednesday morning at 11:00 with Pastor Butch Nisly, Pastor Matt Reed, Pastor Ross Miller and Fr. King officiating. The funeral will also be livestreamed through Evermore Community Church's FaceBook page.
