John H. Hart John Hart, age 90, died quietly at Aultman Hospital January 6th, 2015. Born in 1924 in Gadsden, Alabama, he moved to Salem, Ohio as a boy. After graduating from Salem High School in 1943, he entered the US Navy during WWII. He served on a destroyer escort in both the Atlantic and Pacific. While on leave in 1944, he married his high school sweetheart Ruth (Fidoe) at the Navy Chapel in New York City. The couple moved to the Hartville area in 1959. John was employed by the A&P Tea Company for 33 years, during which he was a manager in many area A&P stores. Following that, he was employed by Diebold Inc. in Canton. An avid golfer, John also worked several years as a starter for the Bob O'Link (now Sanctuary) golf course in North Canton. A longtime member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, John was a past member of Church council and several committees. He enjoyed participating on the church bowling team. When he retired from work, he joined his wife Ruth as a custodian at St. Jacob's. John is survived by his daughter, Janet "Jan" Hart. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ruth (Fidoe), an infant son John Roger Hart, a brother and four sisters. A memorial service will be Wednesday, January 21st, 11 a.m. at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Leah K. Schafer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service 10 a.m.- 11 a.m. A lunch will follow the service.
