Dr. John F. Thompson, age 83, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday in St. Luke's of Portage Lakes. The son of the late John and Helen (Wilkenson) Thompson of Blairsville, Virginia. Dr. Thompson devoted his life to medicine and his family. A graduate of Kiskiminetas Springs School of Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, attended pre- med at Ursinus college of Collegeville, Pennsylvania and graduated from Jefferson Medical School of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served proudly in the United States Navy in Korea and remained with the Naval Reserve for 30 plus years. Dr. Thompson was active in community service and with his church. He is survived by his wife Jean Thompson of 56 years, 3 sons; Gregory D. (Debra D.) Thompson of Alliance, Jeffrey M. (Nancy)Thompson of Fort Pierce, Florida and John A. (Rhonda) Thompson of Denver, Colorado; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A memorial Service will be held Wednesday, 11AM in St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church with Pastor Bruce Roth officiating.
