John Leroy Erb, age 78 of Hartville went home to Heaven Tuesday morning February 12, 2008 in the comfort of his home with family by his side. Born in Millersburg, Ohio to Dan and Sevilla (Miller) Erb on February 15, 1929, John was retired from Ellis Erb Inc. after 47 years of service. John was a member of Hartville Mennonite Church, Marlboro Lions Club, where he was Lion of the Year in 2002. An avid bowler, he was inducted into the Alliance Bowling Hall of Fame in 2004. Survivors include wife of 52 years Sylvia (Otto) Erb; daughters Sharon (Larry) Reed of Canton, Gayle (Gary) Brown of Louisville, LuAnn (Jeff) Haubert of Canton; son David (Andrea) Erb of Hartville; grandchildren Heather (Joe) McCoy, Julie (Jim) Martin, Clifford Brown, Melissa Brown, Tiffany Brown, Adam Haubert, Allison Haubert and fiancé Dean Walther II, Daniel Miller, Jonathan Erb and Joshua Erb; great-grandchildren Daniel, Gavin, Rosaleigh and one on the way; sisters Zelda Eisberger of Waxhaw, NC, Sarah (Marvin) Broadwater of Inman, SC, Lorie Manko of Hartville, Mary (Laverne) Wittmer of Hartville; brothers Wayne (Catherine), Ellis (Janice) all of Hartville, Dan (Norma) of Louisville, Larry (Linda), William (Anna) all of Hartville. Preceded in death by parents and sisters Naomi Erb and Arlene Hostetler. Friends may call Friday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Hartville Mennonite Church, Smith- Kramer St., and an hour prior to services Saturday 9-10 AM. Funeral services are Saturday 10 AM at the church with Dr. Dave Hall and Pastor Henry Shrock officiating. Final resting place is the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donation to H.M.C.
