Obituary

John F. Armour, age 67, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 after a courageous battle with lung cancer at Aultman Hospital with his wife and family by his side. Born July 17, 1949, in Akron, Ohio to the late George and Ann Armour, he was a lifelong resident of North Canton, Ohio. John graduated from Hoover High School and studied management at Stark State College. He proudly served his country for 6 years in the Navy during the Vietnam War, and had the honor of becominga Golden Shellback, bestowed upon crossing the equator and International Dateline. He worked almost 30 years at Republic Steel,then several years at RPG Industries, finishing his career as a real estate agent for DeHoff Realtors. His favorite pastime was spent on the golf course. He was a long-time active member at Oakwood Country Club in North Canton and served as Presidentof the Sr. Golf Association Board for 4 years until his illness made it impossible for him to golf and to continue serving. His other passion was making homemade wine. His wife's son, Jason Pratt, fulfilled one last item on John's bucket list and built him a high performance 1976Corvette Stingray, giving John so much pleasure during the process and allowing them to bond a very special friendship. Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Connie Armour; brother, William Armour; and Sister, Susan Armour. Survived by his wife, Vicki Armour; nephews, Andrew Armour, Billy Mohler, Jimmy Mohler;and nieces,EvanneArmour and Molly Hanlon. Per John's wishes, following cremation a celebration of his life for family and friends will be Wednesday, October 19th, from 5 - 7p.m. at Oakwood Country Club 6875 Firestone Ave., N.E., Canton, Ohio.
