Joe I. Mitchell, age 90, of Canton died Tuesday evening in Canton Regency Health Care. Born in Delagua, CO he spent his young life in Eldorado, TX and resided here since 1953. Joe was a retired auditor for the U.S. Postal Service serving the Canton area, a Member of First Baptist church, Canton Lodge No.60 F&AM and Served in the Army overseas as a Master Sergeant during WWII. Preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sally Jo Mitchell and brothers Louie and Hon Mitchell. Survivors include his wife of 65 years Florence Gretchen Mitchell and three sons, Dr. Joe I. Mitchell Jr. and Rita Irmini of Salinas, CA, John J. and Mary Lou Mitchell of Canton and Terry L. Mitchell and Barb Lowry of North Canton. Eight grandchildren: Molly, Kate, Anne, Michelle, Mara, Joe, Megan and Ryan; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be Saturday 10:00 A.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW. with Rev. Kevin E. Slyh officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
