Joe Mijic, age 97, of Canton, passed away November 29, 2010. He was born February 15, 1913 in Glina, Yugoslavia and immigrated to the United States in 1927. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Angela (Torbica) and Eli Mijic, brothers, Stanley and Pete Mijic, and sisters, Danica Zec and Eva Marinkovic, nephew Elia Mijic and niece Dolores Zec. He is survived by his son Michael (Jackie), and daughters, Carol Annibella (Jim) and Dorothea Flanigan (Gerald Jr.), five grandchildren, Michele Fischer, Debbie and James Annibella, Valerie Stacy, and Terri Cameron, nephews Mitchie Zec and Mel Marinkovic, and nieces, Joanne and Jordana Marinkovic, and Jeanette Howell, and eleven great grandchildren. He was a policeman and detective on the Warren, Ohio police force for 25 years and a Naval guard in San Diego, California for 11 years. He was an Army veteran of the Second World War and served in Nagasaki, Japan. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the First Christian Church, 6900 Market Avenue N., North Canton with Pastor Jeff Bullock officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Christian Church building fund.
