Joanne Rainey, age 89, of Canton formerly of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with Huntington's Disease and Lymphoma on November 17, 2011. She was born in Cambridge, Ohio, on July 25, 1922 to the late Maurice and Hellen Ruth (Moore) Rainey. She graduated from Brown High School in 1940 and Ohio State University in 1944. Before moving to Canton, Joanne was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church of Columbus where she sang in the choir. In Canton, she attended John Knox Presbyterian Church with her family. She began her career working in The Fashion Store in Columbus, free lanced in advertising, worked for Gold Circle in advertising and was a partner in the Mary Morgan Make-up Company. She celebrated life to its fullest and loved being at her cottage in Michigan with family. Preceded in death by her parents and step-mothers Alma Noble Rainey and Mary Morgan Rainey. She is survived by cousins including Penny Harris, Pamela (Richard) McElroy, Jennifer Miller and their families; step-sister Jan (Bruce) MacDonald and Step-brother Bill (Donna) Noble and their families; and dear friends Mary Lou Nash, June Creek and Georgia Berenhauser. A service of remembrance will be held in the mausoleum at Northwood Cemetery in Cambridge, Ohio, on Monday November 21st at 11:00 a.m. Friends will be received in the mausoleum at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
