Joan E. Shearer, age 86, formerly of Canton recently of Sun City Center, Florida. Died Tuesday morning, November 6, 2012 in her residence in Sun City Center. Born in Alliance, Ohio August 4, 1926 to the late Chester and Ruth (Sitler) Platz. Joan was a 1944 graduate of Timken High School. She retired as a secretary with the Canton City School District in 1984. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Verl M. Shearer, a daughter, Sheridan Worthington, brother, James Platz, and step brother, James Sitler. Survivors include daughter, Leslie Devlin, grandchildren: Heather Kindl, Todd Worthington, Brian & James Sayre, Great grandchildren: Grace & Simon Kindl, and Bobby Worthington A graveside service will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park on Friday November 23rd at 1:00 p.m. for both Joan and her husband.
