Jerry V. James, age 77, of Plain Township died Sunday morning in Aultman Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Marion, OH to the late Dale F. & Ruth (Roseberry) James he had resided here since 1943. A retired contractor, Jerry was a 1951 graduate of Lehman High School and attended Kent State University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity; he was also an Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen James in 2004. Survivors include a daughter: Cheryl (Tony) Guinaldo of Canton. Two sons: Kurt (Cara) James of Massillon and Todd (Sherry) James of Plain Township. Nine grandchildren and a brother Bruce (Barbara) James of Kansas also survive. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. with Rev. Edward Fashbaugh officiating. Interment with military honors will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 525 N. Broad St. Canfield, OH 44406.
