Jean V. Whitmer, age 88, of Canton, died Saturday afternoon in Heather Ridge Assisted Living after a brief illness. Born in Canton to the late Willard and Edna (Snow) Streeby she was a life resident. A 1939 graduate of Lehman High School, in addition to her parent she was preceded in death by her husband Crete Whitmer in 2008, a son Jack in 1990 and a sister: Martha Judson. Jean is survived by her daughter: Cynthia Hummer (Ernest) of Massillon, grandchildren: Jennifer Campbell (Tavis) of Uniontown and Jason Hummer and fiancé Lindsay Keller of Fairlawn, Amy Kutschbach (Matt) of Massillon, David Hummer (Shawna) of Fayetteville, NC. Great Grandchildren, Tyler & Katie Kutschbach, Jared & Garet Hummer. In keeping with Jean's wishes a private graveside service will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
