Obituary
Janet P. Mossbarger, age 94, of Canton, passed away Thursday morning. She was born in Corry, Pennsylvania to the late Dr. Elmer and Anna (Smith) Peterson. Janet was a 1942 graduate of Lehman High School and a life member of Crossroads United Methodist Church (formerly Church of the Savior) where she was involved in many activities and leadership roles including United Methodist Women and Stephen Ministry. Janet was a member of Meadow Glen Garden Club, Canton Garden Center, North Stark Shrine and the Canton Woman's Club. She was active in the school PTA, being a band parent and room mother. In addition to her parents Janet was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Laird. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Merrill R. Mossbarger, Sr.; children, Linda (Gary) Heather, Louise (Bob) Young, Merrill R. (Kathy) Mossbarger, Jr. and Julie Hillenbrand; son-in-law, John Laird; 13 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW with Rev. Edward M. Fashbaugh, II officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Crossroads UMC 120 Cleveland Ave. S., Canton, Ohio 44702. Please sign the guest book.
