Jane O'Leary Hines, age 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 19, 2021 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Jane passed away quietly with her husband at her side. Jane and Skip had been married 48 years.

Born Jane Mary O'Leary Dec 5, 1932 in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Jean McConkey (O'Leary) Ake and Joseph James O'Leary. She grew up an only child, meeting her half-brothers as a young adult.  Joe, Tom, Tony and John O'Leary were a joy to her. After a 75 year search, she found and joyfully connected with her half-brother Michael Merrill.

Jane graduated from Lehman High School in 1950 and went to St Vincent Charity Hospital School of Nursing. She left before completing her degree to marry and begin her family. She returned to school, graduating from Florida Atlantic University in 1967 with a degree in education and became a reading specialist.

She married Hilton (Skip) Hines in 1973. They lived in Brecksville, Ohio, Naperville, Illinois, Glen Mills, Pennsylvania and chose Hendersonville, North Carolina for retirement. They recently moved to Utah to be with family.

Jane had a warm heart, a rollicking sense of humor, was an amazing story teller, loved to sing in the church choir, she had a special penchant for including those who were alone, embraced those around her and had an innate ability to encourage the best and foster faith in those close to her.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Skip, her children Mary (Hershman) Stone, Melanie (Hershman) Niedfeldt and her husband Jonathan, Rick Hershman, Mark Hines and his wife Marianne, Margaret (Hines) Carlson, her fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and her brothers Joe O'Leary, Tom O'Leary, Tony O'Leary, John O'Leary, and Michael Merrill.

Visitation will be 12:30 – 1:00 PM on October 27, 2021 at the Arnold Funeral Home at 4817 Cleveland Ave NW. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM with Pastor Michael Wallace officiating. Final resting place is North Lawn Cemetery.
