James F. Sturznickel, age 77 of North Canton, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 in Aultman Hospital. He was born November 16, 1943, in Cleveland to Frank and Margaret "Marge" (Mosier) Sturznickel.
James was a member of Greenwood Christian Church. He graduated from Strongsville High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Kent State University and was a teacher and football coach at Lakewood High School. Jim and a friend started Securi-Com in Cleveland in the early 1970's. He left teaching in 1977 to devote all of his energy to Securi-Com and in 1994 started Securi-Com Burglar and Fire Alarms of Canton.
Jim loved being in nature, hunting and especially fishing. He manufactured and sold Jimmy Bucktail Fishing Lures and was a member of Muskies Inc. Chapter 19. He was a "people" person who loved to tell stories but was most importantly a family man who adored his wife, loved raising and coaching three boys and being with his three grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Penny (Conley) Sturznickel; son and daughter-in-law, Michael D. and Katie Mishler Sturznickel; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Barb Sturznickel; three grandchildren, Ava, Ben and Devon. He was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy in 2019, James in 2020 and two sisters, Joan Wiseman and Pat Olson.
Calling hours are Saturday 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. at Greenwood Christian Church. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with pastor Tony Amerine officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
