James R. Orr, 75, formerly of Hartville, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Akron on January 18, 1951 to the late Harry and Rose (Petuch) Orr, Sr.
After graduating from the former Hower High School, Jim quickly entered the workforce. He began his career as a tire mold stamper for Akron Equipment before becoming a machinist at Logan Machine Company. He later retired from Diamond Polymer following a successful career as a color technician.
A man of deep faith, Jim was an ordained minister who spent many years serving the Lord, and he was a cherished member of the Compass North community.
He had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling with his wife—whether it was exploring Noah’s Ark in Kentucky or taking a memorable ride on the Goodyear Blimp. Back home, he adored his grandchildren and was always there to cheer them on at their school and sporting events.
Jim also had a passion for sports. He loved golfing, fishing and attending sporting events, especially to watch his beloved Indianapolis Colts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda Orr; His son Todd (Sherry) Orr and daughter Tiffany (Rob) Curry; grandchildren, Alexa (Sean) Mayer, Robbie (Ashlee) Curry, Taylor Ury, Zachary (Kirsten) Orr, Elizabeth Curry, and Brooklyn Ury; great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Brinley, Levi, Lainey, Koda, Ian, and Declan; siblings Harry Orr, Jr., Danny (Debbie) Orr, Sharon (Carl Garcia) Semelsberger, Sandy Sloan, and Frank Orr.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Orr and his sister Cheryl Hutchison.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 12th from 12-1:30 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville, 504 West Maple St.
A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. and burial will take place at Mt. Peace Cemetery.
