Obituary

James C. McAfee, age 75, of North Canton, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 20, 2012 with his family by his side. Jim was born on June 20, 1937 in Canton, Ohio to the late Clarence E. and Audrey M. (Wonderly) McAfee and was a 1955 graduate of Lehman High School. Afterward, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving 4 years during which he was stationed in Texas, Georgia and Okinawa. After being honorably discharged he was hired as a draftsman at R. A. Griffin Company in Canton. In 1961 he was introduced to Ailene Crider and they were married on January 6, 1962. For the next several years, he remained busy with his family and took much joy in helping to raise his 2 sons, providing for them a loving atmosphere and a solid foundation. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in North Canton, Lehman Alumni Association, Canton American Legion and Trinity Lodge No. 710, F. & A.M. In 1988, after serving as general manager, Jim and his wife purchased the R.A. Griffin Company/ American Clay Machinery and retired in 1999. Jim filled his life with family, friends and many good times. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Ailene R.; sons and daughters-in-law, James R. and Karen McAfee of Lawrenceville, GA, Christopher E. and Shelley McAfee of Green; five grandchildren Hannah, Emma and Ian McAfee and Olivia and Jacob McAfee; sister and brother-in-law Polly and Chuck Duplain of Louisville; nephews Chuck (Becky) Duplain of Massillon and Dan (Jina) Duplain of Louisville; cousins Candy Stolicny and Robert Wonderly; and many great friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and step-mother Betty McAfee. Calling hours are Monday 4-8 PM at Arnold Funeral Home Canton. Funeral services are Tuesday 12 noon at Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. Eli Klingensmith officiating. There will be calling hours in the church Tuesday an hour prior to services. Final resting place is North Lawn Cemetery.
