James K. Luntz, age 87 of Jackson Township passed away Monday morning, July 30, 2007 in Windsor Medical Center. He was born January 11, 1920 in Cleveland to Charles and Vera (Fields) Luntz. James retired from Merrill Lynch of Canton in 1998 following a 40 year career where he served as Vice President. He was a member of Temple Israel and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Canton. Mr. Luntz received his B.S. in Finance from John Hopkins University and was a past member of the Chicago Mercantile and WW II Army Veteran. James had a passion for the Arts and as such served as president of the Canton Art Institute from 1967 to 1970, the Canton Symphony 1962 to 1964, and served on the board of the Canton Ballet as endowment committee chair as well as the Finance committee and the nominating committee and was a member of the Pegasus Club. He played Bass and the Harmonica in "The Establishment Group". Mr. Luntz was a social member of Glenmoor Country Club, member of Mentor Harbor Yacht Club, Atwood Yacht Club, Lake Cable association and past member of Canton Club and Arrowhead Country Club. In 1988 he climbed to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. He is survived by his wife Carol; daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Joseph Mattioli of Gates Mills, Ohio, Tracy and Samuel Gelal of North Canton; grandchildren, Benjamin Luntz, Heather Luntz, Paul and Max Mattioli, Nicholas and Zachary Gelal. He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and William Luntz and two sisters Marilyn Blake and Connie Miller. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening 6-8:00 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton. Funeral Services will be Thursday Aug 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Jim Walker officiating. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. A memorial service will also be held Thursday August 9 at 11:00 in Temple Israel with Rabbi John Spitzer officiating.
