James R. Lotze, age 87, of Canton passed away Tuesday afternoon in Mercy Medical Center. Jim was born in Canton to the late Edwin and Gertrude (Moore) Lotze and had been a life resident. He was a graduate of Mount Union College, received his Masters in Education from Kent State University. A teacher and professor of music, Jim was a member, past president, scholarship chairman and performing member of MacDowell Music Club. He received recognition from the Ohio House of Representatives for fifty years of distinguished service to students of Ohio, and was Emeritus Professor of Music Kent State University. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: Paul A. Lotze. Graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 13, 2015 in North Lawn Cemetery.
