Obituary

JAMES P. KELLER

Age 76 passed away on March 13, 2017, after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Jim was born on June 6, 1940 to Earl S. and Lillian J. Keller, and was a 1958 graduate of Canton South High School. After several years with the Ohio Power Company/AEP where he served as President of Local 116, UWUA, and Chairman of the AEP Joint Council, Jim left to join the efforts of the UWUA at the National Level. He was very active in the labor movement. Upon his retirement in 2003, he held the positions of National Executive Vice President of the UWUA, and Vice President of the State AFL-CIO. Jim was a very passionate, proven leader and caretaker of employee rights. He worked very hard to ensure the workers had a voice in the workplace.

Jim will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Joanne; sons, James P. Keller, II (Allison) of Findlay, Ohio; Jon P. Keller (Jennifer) of Aurora, Ohio; and the source of so much pride and joy, grandchildren, Brittney Keller-Hamilton (Phillip) of Columbus, Ohio, Bradley Keller of Phoenix, AZ and Emily, Elizabeth, and Melanie Keller of Aurora, Ohio. Also left to cherish his memory are sisters, Connie Thomas, Susan Reiderman, brother, Mark Keller, and special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, David J. Keller. Jim had the uncanny ability to make each of his children and grandchildren feel special. He would travel any distance in any weather conditions to support them in their sporting events and other activities. They all knew their number one fan would always be there cheering them on. Jim was a larger then life personality who never met a stranger and was always the first to help a friend in need.
