Obituary

James Condon Goulet peacefully left this life on February 9, 2024, with his family nearby. Born on January 15, 1951, in Bridgeport, CN, Jim grew up on the East Coast before making his way to Ohio to attend Walsh College in North Canton. He subsequently got a teaching position at Our Lady of Peace Elementary School in Canton where he met his future wife and the love of his life Margaret (Margie) Swallie. Jim went on the work at Wickes Lumber and American Electric Power (AEP) in special billing (Big Accounts) until his retirement.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Goulet; his mother Loretto (Histon) Goulet; his father Henry W. Goulet; a sister Loretto Ann Goulet; a brother Mark Goulet; and his funny feline companions Eleanor and Franklin.

Jim is survived by his sons John Condon (Sandra Schleifer) Goulet and Zachary Mont (Jaclyn Adley) Goulet; his grandson Charles (Charlie) Goulet; a brother William (Janice) Goulet; and sisters Patricia (Kenneth) Schielke and Marybeth Connolly.

Throughout his life, Jim Goulet was first and foremost a family man. He loved nothing more than spending time with family whether it be with his sons and grandson, Margie's nearby family, or his distant one in whatever form that took. Jim's family and friends appreciated his dry sense of humor and knew that a punchline was forthcoming – eventually -- in his stories about the cruises he had taken or would take, his involvement with his church community, or his early morning breakfasts at Samantha's.

A Memorial Service is planned for 11:00 a.m. on March 9, 2024, at the Northwest Church of Christ, 3904 38th St. NW, Canton, OH. Family and friends are welcome at the church at 10:00 to share their favorite memories of Jim. At a later time, per his request, he will take one last cruise with his family who will scatter his ashes in the ocean allowing part of him to cruise forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in Jim's name.
