James Morgan Cox, age 88, of Canton, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Stone Crossing Care Center. James was born in McKeesport, PA to the late Rev J. Morgan and Dexter (Clayton) Cox. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy as a Seaman Second class and a Liberty Yoeman. James graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology. He entered into a partnership in 1960 forming Cox & Forsythe, Architects. During his architectural career of fifty years, the firm of Cox & Forsythe designed and built the Pro Football Hall of Fame, as well as many professional businesses, churches and private residences including the Post Office, the Romanian Orthodox Church, Brookside Country Club (remodeled), and supervised the construction of the City Hall. He was registered by the American Institute of Architects and was a lifelong elder of Christ Presbyterian Church and and served on many national boards and agencies of Presbyterian Church USA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Yarger, brother Dana Cox, and sister Patricia Sines. James is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Martha McCormick Cox and daughters: Ariel Sibylla Cox Yarger, Shannon Elise, and Claudia Renee Cox Plottner, fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22,2014 in Christ Presbyterian Church Sanctuary. There are no calling hours. A private interment will be held for the family.
