James L. Cooper, age 82. Born October 27, 1931 to the late Evelyn (Becker) Cooper and Leroy William James Cooper. Jim graduated from Lehman High School in 1949, attended Mount Union University and The Ohio State University. He then served in the Korean conflict as a Corporal in the First Armored Division in Germany as a photo mapping specialist. Jim retired after 35 years with Cooper & Associates, Civil Engineering and Consulting firm. He was a member and Past President of the Kiwanis Club, Board member of the Home Builders Association, held several offices at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, a 50 year member of William McKinley Lodge # 431 F & AM and a 50 year member of Al Koran Temple. He enjoyed sailing at Atwood Lake for 30 years with family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and chartered many excursions on Lake Erie. He was also a very accomplished gardener and enjoyed growing and sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Graves, brother-in-law, Ronald Graves and a niece Elizabeth Allison Graves. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marilyn Cooper. Three sons and two daughters-in-law: Richard (Nancy) of Columbus, OH; Robert (Patricia) of Moorestown, NJ and Steven of Cordova, TN. There are nine grandchildren: Kristin (Jeff Partlow), Nicholas (Jessica) and Emma of Columbus, OH; Miles, Pierce and Natalie of Moorestown, NJ and Nathan, Ryan and Jason of Cordova, TN. Three great grandchildren: Blake and Madison Partlow and Cali Cooper. Two nephews Dale and Keith Graves of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. A memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 23, 2013 in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark A. Williams officiating. A private interment will be in the North Lawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends following the service in church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 2551 55th St., N.E.
