James Arthur Campbell, of Middlebranch, Ohio went home to Jesus on February 9, 2026. He was 88 years old. Jim leaves a rich legacy of faith, family, leadership, and service that exemplify his deep and abounding love for Jesus and people.
Jim was born in Canton, OH to Irvin and Kathlyn and was a graduate of Middlebranch High School. He married Nancy, his high school sweetheart, on June 14, 1958. Their life together became a testament to steadfast love, shared purpose, and joyful partnership for 67 years. Together they raised Brian, Kim, Jeff, and Shawn. Nieces, nephews, neighborhood kids, and church friends would also find a sense of home and belonging in the Campbell house.
In recent years, the old farmhouse brimmed with laughter, stories, and the kind of togetherness Jim cherished deeply. Four generations gathering under one roof was, to Jim, one of God’s sweetest blessings.
Jim was a lifelong member of the Middlebranch Grace Brethren Church. There, he and Nancy built deep friendships, served faithfully and worshiped together. He was an avid student of Scripture, building an extensive library not for display, but for devotion.
Beginning his career at Diamond Portland Cement Company, Jim eventually rose to the role of President of Olympic Plating. He made it his ambition to work hard and live a quiet life as described in 1 Thessalonians 4. Even in retirement, he found joy in simple, faithful rhythms: sharpening tools, tending the yard, and caring lovingly for the home he and Nancy built.
Jim was humble, diligent, generous and kind. He loved Jesus and his family exceptionally well. They carry forward his legacy.
Jim is survived by his wife Nancy, children Brian (Susan), Jeff, Shawn (Lisa) and son-in law, Scott Davis. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kim Davis, brother David Campbell and sister Susie Davis. Jim is also survived by his grandchildren Erin (Seth) Nash, Alison (Joel) Bucklin, Taylor (Chase) Merten, Landon (Emily) Davis, Dillon Davis, James Campbell, Francis Campbell and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 12th from 5-7 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home, 504 West Maple St., Hartville. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with calling hours beginning at 10 a.m.
