James L. Bateman, age 76, of Hartville, passed away on Wednesday January 15, 2020. He was born in Hartville, Ohio on January 7, 1944 to the late James J. and Annie (Pickett) Bateman. James retired from Lake Local Schools after 37 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Carol Weisel Bateman, they married on February 24, 1968; sister-in-law Edna Mae Weisel; and nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by siblings Homer McBrayer and Billie Rainieri; and siblings-in-law Roger Weisel, Shirley (Perry) Lavy.

Calling hours are Monday 1-2 PM and a memorial service begins at 2 PM at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville with Pastor Anthony Di Marco officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery.
