James Fritz Baswell, age 80, of Hartville passed away peacefully at home Monday November 24, 2008. Born In Sturgis, Mississippi on March 20, 1928 to the late John and Willie (McGinnis) Baswell, he married Mary Ruth (Roach) on September 27, 1947, then the family moved to the Hartville area in the 1950's. He was employed by F.E. Schumacher Co. for 45 years retiring in 1999 where he operator the Slat Pointer, a machine that is still in operation at Baird Lumber in Canfield. Fritz took pride in his garden sharing his produce with many and enjoyed woodworking. With his son, he attended many shows with the Marlboro Volunteers Military History Organization. A highlight for Ruth and Fritz was returning home to Mississippi in 2007 to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary with friends and family. His pride and joy were his grandchildren Miriah and Ryan Baswell, Beth (Tom) Shick, and Amy (Jason) Wittensoldner and great-grandchildren Andrew and Addie Wittensoldner. Also survived by his loving wife Ruth; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Patty Baswell of Atwater, and Larry and Jan Baswell of Marlboro; sister Virginia Arnett and brothers Joe Baswell and J.W. Baswell all of Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers Elmo and Billy. Calling hours are Friday 6-8 PM and an hour prior to services Saturday 9-10 AM at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. Services are Sat 10 AM in t he funeral home with Rev. D. Gary Schreckenengost officiating. Final resting place is Marlboro Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Marlboro and or Hartville Volunteer Fire Depts.
