Jack L. Rappoport, age 102, of North Canton passed away on Tuesday morning, September 25, 2018. He was born in Gowanda, New York on May 8, 1916 and lived in Salamanca, NY. A graduate of Syracuse University, he later attended Harvard Law School and graduated from Western Reserve Law School in 1942. He served in the Army Air Corp during WW II in the Southwest Pacific, a Sergeant of the Air Corp Intelligence, 68th Fighter Squadron, honorably discharged January, 1946. He served as federal attorney for the Air Corp, director for a glass company making optics for the film industry, and he joined a construction firm. He was a principal partner in companies that secured and developed land. Jack was a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue, Board Trustee; served on the Board of Canton Jewish Community Federation; member of Jewish War Veterans; member of Stark County Home Builder Association; member of Branhaven Swim and Tennis Club; and member of the International "70 + Ski Club". He remained an active member and supporter of many national Jewish organizations. Jack enjoyed staying physically fit, traveling, and reading, and he loved his woods. He spent a lot of time following politics.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cathy in February, 1997 and sister I. Beatrice Sultanik. He is survived by his caretaker Joyce Everson and her team of helpers: Sylvia, Melissa, Linda, Bill, Allison, Susan, and Abbie; his groundskeeper Josh Sheffer; long time executive secretary Sandy George; cousins Herbert Rapoport of CA, Lita Zingaro of NY, Maja Bass of IL, Willie Lehbauer of Lithuania, Donna Kronson of CA; and many friends.

Funeral services are Friday 11:00 AM at Shaaray Torah Synagogue with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Final resting place is Canton Hebrew Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shaaray Torah Synagogue.
