Obituary

J. David Swope, age 74, of Canton and Lakeside, Ohio, died peacefully in Aultman Hospital, Tuesday, February 3rd as a result of complications with diabetes. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Swope. David graduated from Lehman High School where he was the captain of the basketball team and Bowling Green in 1962 where he studied business and was a Sigma Chi. He worked for the Hoover Company for 42 years during which he joined his wife Carroll exhibiting at many weekend antique shows and after retirement in mostly Eastern and Midwestern venues. David is survived by his wife, Carroll Swope, sister; Carol, Mrs. Lyle Carr of Canton, nieces; Sarah, Mrs. Timothy Wenger of Columbus and Laura, Mrs. Richard Milligan of Canton. Nephew, Stephen Carr of Florida also survives. Starting in eighth grade David rode his bicycle to Lake Cable; he will be remembered spiritually as a fisherman and for composing and delivering a speech in the fourth grade dedicating a new bird bath at Worley Elementary School. Following a private funeral service interment will be in North Canton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Please sign the guest book.
