Obituary

Irving Rubinstein, age 84 of Canton, passed away Wednesday morning, October 15, 2014 in Aultman Hospital. Irving was born June 5, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Joel and Gertrude (Glasser) Rubinstein. Mr. Rubinstein was a Jeweler at Art's Jewelers and Roger's Jewelers where he retired as a regional supervisor in 1986. He loved the many friendships he built while at Roger's and never considered his time at the store as work. He was a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue. A 1948 Lehman High School graduate he attended both Kent State University and The Ohio State University. Mr. Rubinstein was a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans, B'Nai B'Rrith, Post 44 American Legion and Canton Ex Newsboys Association. Irving's family is eternally grateful for the respect and love that his friends and customers extended to him throughout his life. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Steven Zimelman of Culver City, California; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Andrea Rubinstein of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Elliott Rubinstein of California; four grandchildren, Carli and Taylor Zimelman, Lexi and Micah Rubinstein. A graveside service with Military Honors will be Monday, October 20, 1:30 p.m. in Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Rittman, OH 44270 with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating.
