Ira Essner, Jr, age 79, of N. Canton died October 30, 2012 of pancreatic cancer. Born in Canton October 21, 1933 to the late Ira & Helen (Weyl) Essner he was retired from Gregory Galvanizing. Ira attended McKinley High School served two years in the Marine Corp, and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years Florence. Survivors include his second wife of 19 years Lucille M. Essner. Daughter: Barbara (Neil) Rupe of New Philadelphia, OH. Sons: Ira N. (Jackie) Essner of Jackson Township, and Tim Essner of Phoenix, AZ Grandchildren: Adam & Megan Rupe both of Washington D.C. Sisters: Wilma Essner & Joan Ann (Dale Sr.) Walter. Numerous nieces & nephews also survive. Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. with Rev. Roy Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
