Ida M. Figler, age 97, of Canton, passed away Friday evening, March 29, 2013. She was born April 5, 1915, in Lynchburg, Ohio, to Ben and Rebecca (Fidelholtz) Adelman, and was a lifelong resident of Canton. Ida was a licensed beautician who volunteered her beautician services in various mental health facilities and Aultman Hospital for 60 years. She also bred and raised pedigreed chihuahuas. She enjoyed many hobbies, including horseback riding in her youth, mahjong, bowling, sewing, cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed making chocolate lollipops for her great-grandchildren. She lived every day to its fullest and always had an encouraging word and a warm smile for everyone with whom she came in contact. She was a member of Agudas Achim and Shaaray Torah synagogues, and enjoyed participating in senior adult activities at the Jewish Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, in 1990, her son, Neal, in 2010, and her sister, Helen Scholnik, in 1976. Survivors include her son, Ron (Marci) Figler, grandchildren, Tobie DVM (Mark) Wolfe, Wendy (Jose Parra) Burks, Dana (Ed) Kessner, Brad MD (Charlene MD) Figler, Scott Figler and Rebecca (fiance Nick Kostich) Figler, nine great-grandchildren and sister, Elsie Berger. She is also survived by special friends, Wendy Figler and Jo-Ellen Skelley. She will be missed by all who knew her. Graveside services were held Sunday, March 31st at the Canton Hebrew Cemetery, with Rabbi A.J. Kushner officiating. Contributions may be made to Agudas Achim Congregation, P.O.
