Obituary

Hymie Cooper, age 95, of Canton passed away Sunday morning, January 19, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 2, 1919 in Canton to the late Joseph and Yetta Cooper. Hymie was the owner and operator of Cooper's Poultry Market in Canton and later was very active with Fawcett Stadium and the Football Hall of Fame. He was a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue. He graduated from Timken High School and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was also an avid bowler. Survived by his wife of 74 years Esther; three daughters, Nancy and Dr. Barry Appelbaum of San Diego, CA; Barbara and Michael Salle of Canton; Jo Sanders and Richard Wetzel of Green; Four grandchildren, Vicki (Jeff) Nelson and Kevin (Stacy) Appelbaum all of San Diego, CA; Tiffany Salle of Canton and Ellie Sanders of Columbus; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 PM in Shaaray Torah Synagogue with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Interment will be in Canton Hebrew Cemetery.
