Howard A. Cohodas age 72 of Canton, passed away due to myelofibrosis on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. He was born October 1, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Norman and Shirley (Levine) Cohodas and grew up on his grandparents' family farm in Geneva, Ohio. He graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and studied mathematics and physics at Case Institute of Technology. Throughout his career he founded three software companies, Computerwise, Datac, and Design Knowledge Technology and worked at Picker Instruments and at Timken Research Company as a software engineer and manager. He was a member of Temple Israel and served on the Rabbi Selection Committee as well as the By Laws Committee. He also served on the board of Community Harvest of Stark County. Most of his adult life he was a proud blood donor, donating 14 gallons. His interests included flying as a private pilot, teaching as a concealed carry instructor, and most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family on vacation.
He is survived by his wife, Judith (Cooper) of 51 years; children Jonathan of Richmond, VA, Deborah (Andy) Seres of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Samantha and Rebekah Cohodas, Rachel and Jacob Seres; brother Marvin of Vancouver, BC; nephews Kenneth (Becca) Schwartz, Jason (Colleen) Schwartz-Coffey, Coby Cohodas; niece Lea Cohodas; and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by brother David.
Services will be Sunday March 25th at 11:00 AM at the Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave N. Canton. Burial will be Monday 10:00 AM at North Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Harvest 4915 Fulton Drive NW, Temple Israel, or Agudas Achim.
