Hobart F. Griffith, age 76, of Hartville, passed on to be with the Lord on March 11, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. Hobart is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 54 years, Donna Tope Griffith; son, Robert and Lois Griffith of Marlboro; daughters Gloria and Dennis Schreiber, Karen Griffith both of Hartville and Ellen and Wes Pate of Lake Placid, FL. Hobart and Donna have 10 Grandchildren, Stacy Griffith, Sheila and Brian Baer, Willis and Kristy Griffith, Jamie and Jerry Evans, Jessica Schreiber Carpenter, Justin Schreiber, Christopher and Erica Holland, Lindsey Holland, Kevin Sprankle and Elizabeth Sprankle. 4 Great Grandsons, Kyle Baer, Hunter and Spencer Evans, Desai Holland, Step-Grandchildren Brittany and Mark Mobley, and Patricia Mobley, all of Lake Placid, FL and Step-Great Grandchildren Stacie and Jeremy Evans, Antony, Ashlyn, Avery Mobley of Lake Placid, FL. He is also survived by sisters Mary White of Mt. Carbon, WV, Annabelle Triplett of Clay, WV, Virginia (Lloyd) Monroe of Hartville and brother, Robert (Marion) Edward Griffith of Las Vegas, NV. Also many, many nieces, nephew and cousins. Hobart was preceded in death by infant son, David William; sister Ora Dell and brother, Carl Griffith. Born in Newton, West Virginia on October 8, 1933 to Willis and Bertha Myers Griffith of Newton, WV, he helped support his brothers and sisters at a very young age. Coming to Hartville at age 19, he began working for Denver Tope Produce. After farming with his father-in-law, Denver Tope, in both Hartville and Lake Placid, Florida, Hobart and Donna settled with their young family in Hartville working for Teledyne Monarch Rubber Company and continued farming where he became known for growing first rate peppers. Retiring from Teledyne Monarch Rubber Company in 1990 after 30 years, Hobart and Donna semi-retired to Lake Placid where they joined the family produce business and went into partnership farming under the name Miller Produce, returning to Ohio permanently in 2007. He was a dedicated husband, father and friend giving produce to any visitor who stopped by. His hobbies was farming, hunting, fishing and he enjoyed listening to country music. Although the constant working man, he traveled to Alaska, Branson, MO and the American West. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:00 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville with Pastor Eric Crites officiating. Interment will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in Marlboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Marlboro Christian Church or to Mercy Medical Center Hospice.
