Henry A. Sommers, age 83, of Uniontown, went to be with the Lord on Monday May 14, 2007 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born at home in Hartville, Ohio on April 18, 1924 to the late Allen B. and Elizabeth (Miller) Sommers. He married Susan H. Troyer on June 9, 1955. Henry was a member of Pleasant View Amish- Mennonite Church and considered church to be an important part of his life. At a young age he farmed for family then worked for Greentown Limestone. Henry retired from F. E. Schumacher after 41 years of service. He was a dependable and reliable worker. Henry enjoyed people and company and loved to joke around. For his 80th birthday, his family presented him with a dream, a ride in a hot air balloon, which he took last year when he was 82 years old. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan; daughter, Alma Kay Hershberger; sons, Henry A. Sommers Jr. and Archie Ray Sommers and the granddaughters he adored, Amber and Megan Hershberger all of Uniontown; sister-in-law, Mrs. Daniel (Susan) Sommers of VA; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son Levi; son-in-law, Wayne Hershberger; an infant brother and an infant sister; brothers, Wallace, Ervin, Joseph, Daniel and Allen Sommers; sisters, Fannie Byler and Katie Ann Sommers. Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM in Cornerstone Mennonite Church, 1250 Edison St., NW (Route 619). Funeral services will be Thursday 10 AM in Cornerstone Mennonite Church with Homer Zook officiating. Final resting place is Pleasant View A. M. Church Cemetery.
